-Three
To Two, 3-2, 3-2
How
many times have you heard this? The vote is always
3 to 2. This isn’t something new; it’s been going
on for several years. It didn’t start with this
board. At least one of the members of the TWG
has attended most every BOC meeting for the last 4 years.
Three
to Two—white to black—this is the mantra. Let’s look
at some of the items voted on 3-2. It has nothing
to do with race, personnel, or district. Take
for example a few of the most recent 3-2 votes:
-
Landfill—the
State EPD is REQUIRING that the landfill be capped. They
have given the County a deadline sometime in October.
The county has already been fined and will be fined an
additional $100 per day. This is something that
HAS to done. What was the vote? 3-2.
-
Dozer
Repair—a dozer
used at the landfill needed new tracks or some type of
repair. If the repairs weren’t done, it would cost
more to fix in the future. What was the vote? 3-2.
-
Road
Plan—a road
plan was discussed for the County. This would put
the roads on a list in the order of priority based on
number of houses, cars per day, shape of the road, etc.
This is something this County has needed for a long time.
What was the vote? 3-2.
This
3-2 vote is more of an obstructionist move rather than
a vote for the good of the County. There seems
to be no logical reason for these votes other than to
disagree for the sake of disagreeing. The County
can not move forward if the Commissioner’s can’t work
together, so let’s look at who is voting, what’s being
voted on, and why the vote is the way it is.
