Splost fund for Courthouse
Mr. Charles
Forsythe brought up several questions and problems with the
SPLOST fund for the Courthouse. It seems that State Law
requires that the fund be audited every year and published in the
paper. That way we know if the payments are being made, if the fund
is collecting enough or too much, etc. None of this has been done.
It is also interesting that the old BOC let Linda Jordan, who was on
the Courthouse Committee, handle the SPLOST fund instead of it being
done by the governing authority, again as required by law. We will
let you know more when we find out where the fund stands. Mr.
Forsythe has been requesting information since December and has yet
to get answers. (That’s the way it’s always been done in
Jasper County! And again, why hasn’t our County Attorney made sure
the laws are followed?)
