At the May 16th
BOC meeting, 3 new members were appointed to the JCWSA. Mark
Walton and Allan Platt, who are both engineers and will bring some
expertise to the board, along with Ken McMichael who has worked
diligently to help find other sources of water for Jasper County
to keep Newton County from being our only source. These 3 members
replace Linda Jordan, Roger Bell, and Doug Thomas. During a
special called meeting to “Welcome” the new members, the old
members immediately voted to make Linda Jordan not only
Executive Director, but also Secretary and Treasurer.
Mrs. Jordan now has total control over the water authority and the
money. She will be $100 a month, but has no voting privileges. The
new members were told they were not members until June 1 and could
not vote. We also have a problem that the BOC minutes do
not reflect who was removed from the JCWSA board. This
was brought up at the June 6 meeting, but no motion was made to
amend the minutes. We have been told that that could mean we now
have 12 members on the JCWSA instead of 9. The minutes of the BOC
should reflect removals as well as replacements.
