Several of the editorials have raised questions about the hospital issue.  We want to know when the Hospital Committee will be meeting and where.  We’ll let you know when we do find out.  One thing that everyone needs to realize is the fact that the Jasper County Board of Commissioners is NOT a party to the contract with Oconee Regional Hospital.  The BOC is not legally obligated to pay anything to the hospital.  Oconee (ORH) and Jasper Health Services (JHS) signed the contract in 1999 and again in 2004.  Under this contract Oconee pays JHS one dollar ($1.00) a year.  We have gotten other information, including the financial statements for the hospital, that will be available for your inspection at the next TWG meeting.
