Farmer's Market Director
We’ve
had several calls and comments about the ad in the paper
for a Farmer’s Market Director at $10 an hour. This
is more than many of our county employees make, and we’ve
been asked, “Who’s paying for this position?” Supposedly
there is still Grant money left over to pay for it.
The ad says this director is to “supply the Farmer’s Market
with Georgia grown fruit and vegetables.” Isn’t this
market supposed to be a place that our local people can
take their homegrown items and sell them? Why do we
need to pay someone $10/hour to bring in fruits and vegetables?
If you know why this position is needed, please let us know.
We’ve also confirmed that the lot that was being used by
the Farmer’s Market will no longer be available. The
taxpayers put money into that lot over the past few years.
The Extension Service does not know where the Farmer’s Market
will be located in the future.
