Board
Of Assessors Unveils Website
Are you interested in how much the
tax assessors have your property valued for? Are
you interested in seeing what all they are taxing on your
property and the value of it—swimming pool, decks, docks,
out buildings, etc.?
The BOA requested
that the county allow them to sign a contract with QPublic
for their new website at the last BOC meeting. You can now
visit the new website of the BOA. You can find it at:
http://www.jaspercountyboa.org
You can search
any property by name, location, or property number. You
can view your neighbors property to see if the values are
uniform and equitable. You can print out property record
cards and even view the location of the property on a map
located on each card. Some of the cards provide pictures
of the property. The website is excellent!
There are still
some inequities in properties. The new Board of Assessors
has made several personnel changes, and they seem to have
been for the better. The office is working more efficiently
and the addition of this website is another plus.

several items of interest and people have told us about
others. We will send them to you as we work them up. Below
is just one example. We have
pasted the information from the property record card to
show values.
The top picture
shows a small wooden dock. This dock is valued at $3710.
The bottom picture shows a large, double slip, double decker
dock made of metal. This dock is valued at $3610.

This is just
one type of inequity that the BOA must work on to value
all properties uniformly in the county. The chief appraiser
has stated that in preparation for the 2007 digest, the
BOA office is reviewing all sales, exempt properties, and
lakefront properties.
