Shutting down the landfill

During budget meetings the County Manager proposes changes in the landfill operation to reduce costs. He implied that sometime in the future it should be sold.  Is this really about actually cutting costs?  According to the discussion the landfill will only be open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  

Our District 3 commissioner has been very vocal in meetings about condemning the former landfill director, now the landfill operator.  (Our Public Works director is now the landfill director as well.)  We have to wonder if this about saving costs or about finding a way to get rid of an employee.   Time will tell.
