IF YOU CAN'T MAINTAIN THE FIRE EQUIPMENT YOU HAVE, JUST BUY NEW
At a recent BOC meeting, Fire Chief Jarrett Slocumb went before the
Commissioners and asked that they approve a grant to replace the
current SCBA cascade
system with A new SCBA cascade system, compressor, and fill
station. The SCBA cascade system is used to fill air bottles used
by firefighters during fires. The system will cost $38,965 with
the grant and local match.
The current SCBA system is located at Station 3 where the Fire Chief
has his office. Sources tell TWG that these air bottles used by
firefighters have been empty since November 2012 because the Fire Chief
hasn't taken time to get them filled.
These air bottles are sitting out for anyone to see that goes to the fire station.
When the county gets its new system will it matter if the Fire Chief does not do his part in maintaining the equipment?
Is his lack of attention to these matters putting our volunteer firefighters in jeopardy?
